The mission of the Papa Didos Ideals Foundation is to promote literacy to children

Sixty five days until I hit the road. The buildup is killing me. I’ve been preparing for something like three months now and I don’t yet feel ready. It’s not the milage that plays on my mind. That part is all just a matter of patience and doing. What is unsettling is that I tweak my route often. I’m really not sure just yet where I will lay my head from night to night.

My main goal in this run was to have enough books ready to give to kids along my route. Actually I should state clearly the purpose of my organization because, at times, the run overshadows the foundation. The mission of the Papa Didos Ideals Foundation is to promote literacy to children (especially those at risk and underprivileged) by giving them books and reading to them. While this is the base of what we are about, we are trying to maximize our efforts to have a greater impact on this world. We approach and tackle other issues simultaneously from this platform. The plan is simple. We have one hundred and ten books which have different lessons, different levels, and different styles. They are all entertaining and they all belong to the Papa Didos Universe. The stories teach kids valuable lessons about life. I know it works because some of the most beloved books from my own youth continue to stick in my head today.

The plan is simple yet ambitious. Each book is dedicated to helping a different charity. Sure, some of the books will be favored over others but you can’t control taste. The parts we can control are the quality and sincerity of each book. I can guarantee that every waking moment of three and a half years, love, heart, and tears went into crafting these books. Writing about it kind of weighs heavy on my heart and I think I need to stop here. I will elaborate more on this subject tomorrow. For now, the focus should remain on the purpose of this organization.
