Day 17 of the journey home until now Santa Fe, New Mexico to Laguna Beach, California

The parts for the car arrived early in the morning. Up and running like new; destination Santa Fe. I had originally planned on running through Santa Fe the first time around but I ended up rerouting to get back on schedule. It feels like I’m taking care of some unfinished business…….

Wow, I can’t believe I’ve gone two weeks without putting up a post. Bonnie and John welcomed me into their home in Santa Fe. In the good ol southwest I felt a dose of something mystical. The community there consists of artists, Native Americans, Spanish descendants, and Anglos. My stay consisted of a tour through the old Santa Fe, some conversation, and a great meal. So on three stops, in three places where people have welcomed me, double rainbows have appeared. I’m trying to figure out if it’s some kind of sign. A welcome shower of cool rain came down during dinner. (Especially since New Mexico had been experiencing a drought).

I had a great sleep in the desert. The next day I headed to Albuquerque to hang with Pastor Greg and his kids Nathan and Noah. We had lunch and chatted about the run and about future plans but we didn’t have too much time. His kids had to meet their new teachers as school is about to start yet again.

We ended up stopping in Flagstaff and camped out. There I kind of pulled a back muscle. It would be the beginning of my body falling to pieces. I never realized that the focus of achieving my goal was what kept my body and health together. That night the winds howled but the tent was warm. I love hi tech sleeping bags.

The next day I passed the Roadrunner floating dock bar and grill en route to Los Angeles. In Parker Arizona I also visited my mom’s good friend Cindy. It was the last stop before returning to real life.
