Busywork makes me more tired than exercise. I think it’s because the blood isn’t circulating through the body. They say things in motion stay in motion and things at rest stay at rest. What makes humans so special is that thing called the will. Our ideas create actions which lead to motion. Therefore positive ideas and thoughts lead to positive actions. Conversely negative thoughts and ideas lead to negative actions. But rest assured, the universe has its own police in this thing called karma. It’s like a cosmic Santa Clause. It knows if you’ve been naughty or nice.

There are times when we feel conflicted. Pressure coming from different angles can cause muddled thoughts. These are the moments I choose to run. It’s therapeutic for me on many levels. Firstly, it’s important for me to have a clear head. Through the rhythmic motion I’m always able to remind myself that negativity is counterproductive. This is especially true when I try to control things beyond myself. When I focus on what I am able to do, everything else falls into place. Secondly, the endorphins my body release cause a feeling of euphoria. I guess it’s commonly known as runners high. I believe the sweating body rids itself of poisons and toxins. I usually feel a lightness in my being when I am finished. Finally, I am able to relax when I am finished...

I think most of us know how it feels to be separated from a loved one

I think most of us know how it feels to be separated from a loved one. For me, when I was separated from my son, it felt like I was being suffocated. During that period of heartache, I dwelled upon how our time apart was affecting him. I knew there was no way it could be easy. A son needs his daddy. My son needed the benefits of my years. After all, every kid learns the important things in life from their parents. Despite the distance separating me from my son, I made it my mission to keep my presence strong in his life. I wanted to pass certain lessons and values to him. Most of all, I wanted him to know that I love him, that I will always love him. Because of this commitment to being present in his life, I began writing little stories.
