Life is amazing. It is a wonderful ride that should be cherished; for you only get this one chance to do it right. Each passing moment is a moment you will never get back. It is your choice to be angry or to be happy. You can choose to be a victim or you can choose to be a victor. In my humble opinion it is easy to make yourself happy. Too many people let society dictate the requirements for happiness. I have been guilty of this on an occasion or two as I am still a student of life. There are many who relentlessly pursue material things. They acquire immense wealth at the expense of their health and relationships. Some of the people are happy but I know there are others that aren’t. Does anyone remember the classic movie “Citizen Kane”? What were his last words? What did he long for? Was it the happiness of his childhood?
I love kids because they are still innocent. They haven’t learned greed, or hate, or prejudice. We have so much to learn from them. Look at how happy they are when they run around and play. I used to marvel at the way a shampoo bottle could entertain my son for endless hours in the bath tub. He is generous beyond belief as well. He knows about the upcoming run and he knows about the charities I am trying to raise funds for. Before Christmas I asked him what kind of gift he would like. He answered me by saying he didn’t want anything but to spend time with me. He asked me to donate his gift money to the charities I am running for because others need it more. It brought a tear to my eye. I began to think about how blessed I am to have such a wonderful family. My mom has flown all the way from Asia leaving behind business because she feels this run is important and she wants to make sure I complete it. My cousins, aunts, and uncles are all asking to purchase my books. I am fortunate.
I’m fortunate to be surrounded by great people and great organizations. They are all passionate about helping in one area or another. Caring is contagious as are smiles and love. Life is amazing. Life is beautiful. Life is what you make of it.
