The legs feel strong. I was able to run free again. I started in Gladden which is one occupant short of being a ghost town. I don’t know how prosperous some of the businesses in these small towns were before but, the pinch of the gloomy economy is evident. I was lucky I had a large breakfast because I entered a long stretch where there was nothing in sight. Right before this stretch though was a lone house with no fence and ten rowdy dogs. I’m not sure how I was able to get past the house safe and sound especially when it seemed like the canines did not like visitors. Perhaps it was my calm demeanor. It seemed like the barking pooches were not willing to cross onto the road. After getting past the house, it was just me and the road for the rest of the day. My New Balance 759’s seemed to put a spring in my step and kept my shins from the trauma of the road. I’m so thankful for this model. It feels like there is a slight cushion under my heel.
Bob the gnome had a good day. As usual he took in the sights. Early on he hung out with a couple horses and took the opportunity to get a few photos. JC has been keeping an eye on him because of his fragile legs. My mom had the chance to polish off a couple miles with me towards the end of the day. It was a nice cool down for me and it kind of reminded me of my childhood. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow will bring.
