Today we had a guest come run with us. My new friend’s name is Hoa (pronounced Hwa). He is a Flagstaff local and he was gracious enough to take me on a route that included the historic route 66. JC decide to capture some footage of us at the beginning of the journey. We thought it was fantastic that someone reached out and wanted to join us for part of our adventure. We would meet him later at the mall. We had a nice medium pace going for our run. Surprisingly the elevation of Flagstaff still hasn’t bothered me. I think it might be from all the underwater training I did before I started this run. Who knows. I enjoyed a great conversation with him for the duration of our run but unfortunately, Hoa had to turn back and get to his vehicle because he left it parked at the Hotel where he met us.
JC joined me on the next leg of the run. The thing is we thought we’d start back up with a brisk walk and conversation. We laughed and joked and found that the time melted away and the milage was already in the high teens. Suddenly a cowboy on a four-wheeler with a saddle in the back pulled up and asked us for directions to a bar. First, I didn’t know a bar existed in the middle of nowhere. Second, I’m sure I wouldn’t ask two Asian guys in running gear about an area that is clearly cowboy country. But hey, you never know. And, it never hurts to ask. I wonder what kind of craziness is in store for tomorrow.
