After a night of deep sleep, the sounds of crashing waves coaxed me out of bed. It was the great beginning to a day of rest. Jackie, the youthful proprietor of the Tuckaway Shores, made sure we knew we could relax on the property even after check out. Crystal and my mom took advantage of the beach setting while I caught up on my electronic work. It was only a rest day for my body.
As I tapped away on the keyboard, guests of the hotel began to approach me. Word had spread about what we were doing and suddenly we were selling books left and right. Guests would wander by from the pool area, chat with me for a moment, buy some books, and return to relaxing. The Tuckaway Shores had a magnetic energy that drew in kind people from all over.
I had the chance to wander around the beach. The sand gave my feet a nice massage. It was a treat to let them breathe and wiggle. We wished we didn’t have to depart but our journey kept us moving. Our next stop was just down the street at the Courtyard Marriott Melbourne. We didn’t waste much time getting there so that we could use the remaining time for rest. The beds were soft and the room was quiet. The plants and spacious courtyard gave our room an ambiance which kept the three of us in a relaxed mood. All thoughts of the road were miles away.
The days of rest on this adventure had all passed in short time. Just like the previous rest days, 181 came and went too quickly. After eating leftover stir fry for breakfast, I was back on the road. As always, My legs sprang into action after ample rest. The first ten miles were almost a blur. I stopped on a couple occasions to grab a photograph but other than that my feet wanted to run.
The treat of the day came at Harvey’s Grove. It was a roadside stand that had grown into more than a stand. There I was treated to the best fresh squeezed orange juice I had ever tasted. At that point there was only eight miles left in the day. I continued on. My natural setting gave way to city and construction. The blue water and green plants gave way to black asphalt and orange road blocks. The road led me right to a large parking lot by a busy street. Every day is an adventure.
