I bundled up to escape the cool breeze. The toll of all the thirty mile days had worked a number on my body. I believe I slept motionless until 9:30 the next morning. I had originally wanted to hit the road early but that plan was shot. I glanced around the trailer and suggested we wash all our clothes. After the hot sweaty days mixed with the intense downpour, my damp clothes had the trailer smelling like a high school locker room. Crystal agreed to meet me in the town of Brunswick and get started on the laundry. But first, she wanted to finish her job of organizing our box of receipts.
I had consumed plenty of protein with all the peanut butter I consumed at breakfast. When I ran towards town I consumed plenty more. I ran through patches of insects where I couldn’t avoid swallowing a couple. Did that mean I was no longer a vegetarian? The bugs were more annoying than anything else. They seemed to stay lodged in my throat.
It was nice reaching Brunswick. The only problem was, the trailer still had that smell. The Laundromat on the map was non-existent. We decided to push forward and we found a newly opened laundry place just one mile away on our route. They let me run while they freshened our gear. Miles and miles of swamp and creeks passed my view. I had been told to run to the Open Gates Bed and Breakfast in Darien. The place was located in a quaint historic town. As I approached the town I spotted a couple of interesting structures. The place was called the Butler plantation and the structures were steam powered rice mills. A bridge with anglers connected the plantation with the town of Darien. As the afternoon sun began to drop I saw a row of boats I assumed were used to catch shrimp.
The town had trees growing everywhere. I wandered around the streets and found the bed and breakfast. It was a large two story structure with beautiful wooden floors. The empty pool called my name but she was a luxury that would have to wait. Zach, one of the proprietors of the place came up to me and we introduced ourselves. Crystal and my mom had already met him but they opted to wait for me in the trailer. I rounded up our crew and we were introduced to our quarters. The huge four poster bed was extremely comfortable. It was going to be a great night of rest. I would take my hot bath and that would be it. Another thirty mile day in the books.
