Everything is unbelievable. This journey is everything I thought it would be and more. We finally crossed the state line! Even though it is just the beginning of a long journey, this first milestone gives me a signifiacant boost in confidence. It is a rush like no other to know you crossed a state on foot.
Human kindness is abundant and alive. When you set out to do something good people will give. And, the universe works in strange ways. I have been battling shin splits without a doubt. I was very worried about staying on schedule and arriving in New York but really that isn’t the important thing. It’s about the journey. This adventure called life is absolutely amazing and if you let it take you on a ride, you will have the time of your life. I am seeing generosity first hand. Here in Parker I went to the Roadrunner bar and grill and it had nothing but great hospitality for me and JC. The minute I stepped on the floating dock this dude named Roy greeted me by saying “Hey did you two walk here?” It was the beginning of a fun evening. One guy even called me a “Black Chinese guy” which I guess I’ve heard more than once. The owner of the establishment, Jeff, was super hospitable and he invited me, JC, and my mom back for breakfast. And from what I hear, their breakfasts are pretty famous around these parts. Their house drink the Roadraper is no joke either. Our other buddy Tim, who owns Dirty Deeds Detail and Marine is like the town mayor. The guy knows everyone and he hooked us up with a radio interview in the morning. We weren’t expecting to pick up another passenger on this journey especially since the car is super packed but, I think JC has agreed to look after Bob the Gnome for Tim. He said Bob has been wanting to get out and see more of America. Who am I to deny Bob. Like I keep saying, I am constantly surprised by the wonderful people I am meeting on this quest. Perhaps my injury was meant to keep me here for a couple of days. It’s funny how the universe conspires to make your dreams a reality. Man I love the Roadrunner floating dock bar.
