Day 67 Oklahoma City 0 miles

4/17/2011

So today was my first day off in quite a while. I found it to be exactly what I needed. It wasn’t exactly a full day of rest but it felt rejuvenating none the less. I was able to sleep in and rest my tired legs but I still managed to make the most of every minute today. Of course I had the help of my friend Natalia.

Sometimes you need to nourish your soul to be complete. I did just that. I took in the city and it’s various attractions. We started off at Frontier City amusement park. We went on all the rides in such a short time. The park wasn’t too big and the lines weren’t very long. It was amusing enough but after a while it was time to go. The next destination was downtown OKC.

We were getting hungry and we ended up in the spagetti warehouse. Our server seemed kind of new. He was friendly enough but the place was out of several of their vegetarian options. Natalia had to settle for a salad and I had a pasta. We finished our meal rather quicky then headed towards the commotion around the sports arena. On our way their a scalper tried to sell us some tickets to the Thunder vs. Nuggets playoff game. I almost bought the tickets but Natalia made the keen observation that the guy was trying to sell us a couple of bad seats. The scalper was very persistent but, we turned him down and decided to check out the front of the arena. Playoff basketball always seems to get people out in mass so the mood was pretty festive.

After people watching for a bit we changed the scenery again. We hit the movie theater and caught the flick Arthur. I laughed a lot. It’s been a long time since I’ve been to the cinema. I was happy to watch the film and super happy to sit and let my legs remain on holiday. After the film, we remained in the area soaking in the atmosphere and our surroundings. You could say it was kind of surreal. But for me, the day was fabulous and perfect. Tomorrow I return to my journey but today is a day that I will remember well.
