We keep steppin

9/27/2011

I’ve had a restless stirring lately. I’m not even running planned paths. I take off and I let my feet carry me where they may. I’ll cut on a whim. I’m enjoying the unpredictable. It’s keeping my exercise interesting. While running I frequently think about the greatest adventure in my life to date. In some ways I’ve condemned myself. How do I top running Across America? Do I swim the English Channel? Do I climb Mt. Everest? What do I do now?

I’m busy writing my book and It’s coming along fine. I’m reliving events that led to my run. I’m reliving years of sacrifice. I didn’t even realize I was training. Everything has a reason though and everyday we must listen and learn. Reading my thoughts on a life passed, I still learn.

With all the reading and running I’m doing, a deep yearning to hit the open road has once again consumed me. I crave the new sights, the new smells, the chance encounters, and the possibility in the air. So naturally I’ve decided that I must begin planning another run. But, I’ve learned a few things from my last run and I plan on doing a few things differently. This next run will not be such a long commitment. Instead, I will be running from San Fransisco to Los Angeles. That’s right, I’m going for another long run. We start Feb.16 and finish first Saturday in March. Litke an addict I’m looking for a small hit. I’ll document the process for everyone. Here we go again.
