Less than a month to go – 18 miles

chuck at waterfallI’ve been back in the United States less than a week. My sleeping schedule has been topsy turvy and I lay awake in the AM hours between two to five. I believe exercise helps with jet lag but I think the excitement of the impending journey keeps my mind turning. We try to prepare as much as possible but it seems as though there are always loose ends. The new set of books and stickers are behind schedule but luckily we gave ourselves plenty of slack in anticipation of last minute problems. The truth is, there are always last minute problems. Just like with running, all there is to do is push forward. But unlike running there are others out there who can assist you when problems arise.

ambushed by kidsMost people are shocked when they hear that I don’t have my shoe sponsor in place. The two different companies I worked with in the past have reprioritized me. It comes at a time when I need them dearly. Luckily I prepared for this scenario. I have scrimped and pinched and saved every cent that has come my way over the past two years so that I could make this journey a reality. Crystal and my mother have done so as well. So now is the time I get a lift from all the people I have connected with in life. The support, from friends and family, is what will get me through this adventure. It is fitting really, since the journey isn’t about the corporations. This journey is about the people and places, the sights, sound, and smells.

running on bridgeSpeaking of people and places, we already have commitments from several places of lodging. We are very excited and blessed to experience a new and exciting place on every day of this adventure. I’m even more excited to share these places with all my readers. I sure hope you will enjoy following us.
