Day 27 Casa Grand to Eloy AZ. – 12 miles

P1020732The Fiesta Grande RV resort was quiet and very clean. It was not a small place either. The resort had two swimming pools, a crafts room, fitness center, computer room, Jacuzzi, and much more. It seemed like the place was mainly for seniors. When Crystal and I went exploring, and looked into their billiards room, we were interrogated by an older couple. I guess local kids must try to get into their facilities once in a while. We were happy to be in the tranquil setting. Even with the quiet surroundings, for some reason I was unable to sleep last night. Perhaps the thirty-eight mile run had switched on my endorphins.

P1020734When I finally passed out, my internal clock sounded. I was awake and decided to load up on a large bowl of cereal with raisins soaked in ensure. Of course that was just the beginning. With a replenished supply of Mamma Chia, I gulped a strawberry banana squeeze packet. Waves of heat assaulted my skin the moment I stepped out of the trailer. Knowing the day would be light with only twelve miles to the next destination, I took my time posting the daily blog. There was no rush to run in hundred degree weather. In fact I decided to replenish the lost sleep of the night before.

P1020736It was five o’clock in the afternoon when I finally took to the road. The setting sun lit the entire sky. On today’s route I followed the train tracks for a few miles. I even raced one when for a bit. When I decided to cross the road I saw dozens of caterpillars going the same way as me. The yellow and black creatures with hundreds of legs inched towards food. I guess it hit me that everything has a journey to make. The sun dropped behind the mountains very quickly and when I reached the Sky Rider Inn and Suites it was dark and obscured. I walked into a quaint room with a southwestern feel. Crystal was preparing spaghetti for dinner. She chopped some hatch peppers in the trailer and when I went to greet her my eyes began to water. I knew my mouth would be in for a treat.P1020744
