Today J.C. and I made tracks for the Shriner’s Hospital of Chicago. It was one scary cab ride away from the Navy Pier. Perhaps it’s because I don’t ride in cars much anymore but, I don’t think my cabby was driving very safely. The guy practically took out two pedestrians as he cut through a parking lot. When he slammed on the brakes papers went flying throughout the car leaving a mess everywhere. He wasn’t even really sure which direction to go. I knew something was wrong when he asked us to call the Shriners Hospital then proceed to drive and talk.

I would have run there but the mileage would have been backwards, we had boxes of books, and I had to return to the high rise by the pier regardless...

Day 121 Bridgeview to Chicago 17 miles

I left the Baron home pretty early in the morning. My body felt great. It was ready to conquer another milestone on this quest. Bridgeview is considered a village like many of the small towns in Illinois yet it’s proximity to the city gave it a bigger feel.

As I approached the city, I began to take notice of the surroundings in the various neighborhoods. I watched the names change from Polish,to Italian, to Korean, to Mexican. Day 120 Joliet to Bridgeview 29 miles

Texting messages while driving is against the law for a reason. It’s so you don’t hit people running. You got that. I’m talking to my friends as well; In fact especially to my friends. Next time you hear that ping, either wait until you are parked or pull over to the side if it’s that important. Really, I don’t want to be roadkill. OK?! So please try to think of me and everything that I’m putting myself through before picking up the mobile phone while driving.

I’m glad I got that off my chest. Now it’s time for a report on this quiet Sunday’s solo adventure. I started late yet again. I was fine with it though. I had some good company as I chatted a little bit with my new friend Janice and I thought I’d be doing short mileage...
