Day 307 and 308 Lima OH. to New Haven IN. – 58 Miles

20150712_161026With heavy curtains blocking out all traces of light, it was easy for my overworked body to remain limp in the large cozy bed. The act of lifting my head from the pillow took an enormous effort. To get myself going, I walked to the restroom and splashed ice cold water on my face. I had a thirty mile day ahead of me and I needed a jolt. Sustenance was necessary to kick off the functions of my brain and my body. My morning started with a couple bowls of cranberry almond cereal. The little berries were sweet and the almonds were hearty. I had been craving cereal for a while so the meal hit the spot.

Day 304 to 306 Upper Sandusky to Lima OH. – 48 Miles

20150709_173106The summer season was very deceptive. Of course my days had been humid but I had missed the sun on many days. Perhaps it was a good thing for me. At least I didn’t need to worry as much about being sunburnt.

20150710_155301The country roads were so quiet I could hear my heartbeat. I felt my lungs pumping the oxygen in and out of my body. My respiratory system had always disliked humidity and the damp air had me struggling for my breath. I focused my energies into my footsteps and found a good rhythm. The occasional dog came running out from nowhere but they were all bark and no bite. The highlight of the day came when Crystal and I stopped at a library in the small town of Forest. Day 300 to 303 Akron to Upper Sandusky – 115.7 Miles

20150706_115435I ran from Leon’s house through the city and into the country. The roads had become relatively flat so thirty plus miles didn’t sound like a daunting task. As I took to the streets I ran into some construction. When I reached the west end of town the air quality seemed a bit gray. As I ran past a pond I got stopped by a guy on a bike named Demitirus. He saw me running and turned to ask me a few questions. He was interested in fitness but I was pretty surprised that someone would go out of their way to talk to me. I had happened several times on the road and I wondered if I gave off a vibe that welcomed people to converse with me. If so I was happy to be approachable.
