Day 4. Dana Point to Oceanside – 34 miles

day 4 doubletreeGoogle maps told me the pedestrian route would be thirty-six miles. I thought I’d be smart and run restricted roads and bike paths. I thought I’d get away with twenty-nine miles. I reached a happy medium of thirty-four because of mistakes. I’ll take it.

day 4 rooftopThe evening before, Crystal and I were visited by her former soccer coaches. They had come to donate shoes and show their support for our project. Day 3 Newport Beach to Dana Point – 17.4 miles

TrailerI finished talking to Daisy, the reporter for Kcal 9 and CBS at around 11:30. I lounged around for roughly another hour and a half before taking off for the day. Some might have considered that a mistake as the weather was scorching. Perhaps the summer sun felt like going out with a bang. To tell the truth, buckets of sweat were dripping from my pores even during the interview. I thought all would be fine since the mileage was short and it was a route familiar to my legs. I was wrong!

Day 2. Redondo Beach to Newport Beach – 35 miles

Goran from Palos Verdes InnSome nights you get luxury, some nights you go budget. Last night I we had accommodations which were not as fancy as our first night but they were still very comfy. The sheets were clean, the icebox was cold, and the front desk was nice. The most important thing was that the Jacuzzi was hot and powerful. I sat in the hot tub for a while relaxing my muscles. It was a ritual I developed on my last adventure. I never turned down a bubbling cauldron.
