Fig treeOn my last spiritual journey I didn’t become in tune with everything around me until I had finished a quarter of the trip. This time I feel very zen. From the get go I am aware. Perhaps I know what to look for. Perhaps I now know how to accept a helping hand. What I want to accomplish is bigger than me and I don’t have time to micro manage. I really don’t have the time to even major manage. At the moment my job is to keep moving and to keep reaching the future. I am asking everyone out there to help me with this. I promise I will share my dream with you to the best of my abilities.

Santa Monica CA. 0 days left – 5 easy miles

In front of Fairmont! I left the sanctuary of the green forest to tackle the sandy beaches of Southern California. The first steps will be from Santa Monica to Redondo Beach, California. It will be a short 17 mile jaunt. It was designed to ease us into the journey. The purpose was to ensure longevity as the Great Reading Run is not something accomplished in a day. The urge to explode out the gate had to be resisted.

Chuck at the waterfall!After finding parking for the fifth whale of a vehicle we checked into the Fairmont Hotel in Santa Monica and took a short trip to the pier to relax. Stormy weather – 18 miles

running on bridgeThe morning air was unexpectedly nippy this morning. I knew this meant my muscles would be a bit achy. I still had to train though. At the crack of dawn I still had to train. I washed the sleep from my eyes, laced up the puppies, and I exited the door. The first session was an easy 12 miles. I took my time running in circles around a baseball field. I couldn’t help but enjoy the surrounding pines. When the blood began to flow the kinks slowly retreated. My limber body then switched to auto pilot. A small drop in energy signaled the end of my morning run. It signaled a need for me to fuel up.
