The Gift

For this new year, I’ve decided I’ll put some of my stories on this site for your enjoyment. I’m even considering putting up some pictures for kids to color. But first thing’s first. The Gift

This is the story of a father and his son and the enormous love the father held in his heart. Peter was the man’s name and his son was named Troy. Peter and Troy lived a very happy and good life. Pete made sure that his son never needed anything because he always wanted to provide everything for his family.

Changes

If we continue to do the same thing over and over again should we expect different results? The answer is evident. Sometimes it is the smallest change in a routine that sparks an explosive new direction. We are responsible for our own happiness. If we aren’t happy with something the change is in our hands.

Since completing my run across America I’ve had lots of time to think. All the thinking gave me serious withdrawal symptoms and I longed for the road. I missed the magic and I missed being in tune with the universe. I still run just about every day but I’m not logging the monster miles anymore. I try to hover around thirteen to twenty miles a day now. Believe me, it’s not the same.

My new journey

It’s quiet now. It’s been several months since I finished running across America. Being away from the road is tough. I stay in shape but it’s just not the same. The element of the unknown is missing. I’m not one for predictability and yet I feel myself falling into that very scenario. I get up every day and head straight for the computer. I finished writing the first draft of my book but the task of adding layers is time consuming. At times I just want to chuck the computer. Of course I don’t. I go out running. What did you expect??

I did take a little break from everything for a couple of days. I helped my friend Sunny move to San Diego. We met up in Tennessee and drove back. He’s the friend responsible for getting me into the White House. The drive was restful...
