Day 309 to 312 New Haven to La Porte IN. – 113 Miles

7/19/2015

20150714_103000If a tornado had struck, we would have been in the middle of it. Drops pelted the trailer the entire night while clouds swirled and lightning flashed. The thunder resonated through the air and caused our metallic home to vibrate. Before we fell to sleep, Crystal asked, “If the trailer gets struck by lightning will we be safe?” It was a good question. 20150710_155301The country roads were so quiet I could hear my heartbeat. I felt my lungs pumping the oxygen in and out of my body. My respiratory system had always disliked humidity and the damp air had me struggling for my breath. I focused my energies into my footsteps and found a good rhythm. The occasional dog came running out from nowhere but they were all bark and no bite. The highlight of the day came when Crystal and I stopped at a library in the small town of Forest. Their entranceway contained many super heroes which greeted the guests...
