Day 217 & 218 Raleigh to Franklinton to Ridgeway – 50 Miles

20150408_194407The North Carolina weather had a mind of its own. Hot temperatures had us sweating on my day off. It was hard to believe that I spent the previous day running in the rain. Just like all our rest days, we spent most of the time cleaning the trailer and catching up on computer work. We did take a moment to enjoy another great meal donated by the Red Lobster around the corner from where we parked. I had ordered a pasta with vegetables like I had at another location while Crystal ventured into new territory with a crab leg linguini.

Day 216 Fuquay Varina to Raleigh, NC. – 21 Miles

I knew I had a short mileage day on the itinerary so I took the time to pamper my body. While my body luxuriated in the steaming tub, my intuition told me to check my emails. As the water eventually cooled, I remained reluctant to move. Of course I was glad I did. I was greeted by an email from Tom Woemer, the reporter from the day before. He sent me a digital copy of the story he wrote. He informed me that I had made the front page.

Days 214 and 215 Fayetteville to Fuquay Varina – 46 Miles

20150405_160159As Crystal and I took shelter at the Suburban Extended Stay, a couple ladies paced the street in front of the hotel. Actually one of them danced by herself under a streetlight. The performance entertained Crystal for a minute before we turned on the television. I yawned often while I tried to watch some super hero show but kept my eyes open to keep Crystal company. The moment we shut of the machine was the same moment my consciousness got shut off.
