IMG_4772I’ve grown attached to every just about every city we have passed through. In the smaller ones, I fell in love with the people, the sense of community, and the kindness. In the larger cities I enjoyed the pace, the diversity, and the variety of activities on offer. Our mini holiday in San Antonio allowed me to take a breather and take in the sights.

Day 77 Castroville to San Antonio – 26 miles

IMG_4649I recollect the way my body felt when I finished running across the United States. The memory was resurrected by my aching muscles. The physical strain combined with the extreme climate conditions took me back to everything I endured. At that time I told myself I would not take on another adventure. I couldn’t fathom putting such demands ever again. Of course when the aches and pains faded away, a restless energy surfaced. I had used my time for productive endeavors but, surging through my body was an appetite that needed to be satisfied.

Day 76 Hondo to Castroville 17 miles

20141114_123500A simple thing like electricity could easily be taken for granted. After all, energy is invisible to the human eye. We can’t touch it or smell it. What is energy? It is the ability to do work. Heat is a byproduct of energy and it is something all animals crave. We seek it out and gather around it. We are most fortunate to have learned how to harness energy. It is the reason for our exponential growth and advancement.
