Day 44 Albuquerque to Zuzax Road 27 miles

3/25/2011

I love the Hyatt. I ran from the outskirts of town into downtown to make sure my hosts had books for their kids. What I walked into was a warm and inviting welcome. I think I practically met the entire staff of the Hyatt. They all knew who I was and what I was doing. To top it off, I met a couple members of the local roadrunners running club (Ed and Laura). It was the second Laura I’d meet today. I also happened to meet two Sara’s. Jeff and Demetrius were the ones which set everything up for me. I love them. I also met a Catherine and a Matt. They took a few moments to show me around and let me know I had their support. It sure does make pushing forward a lot easier when you know people believe in the cause. They are even supporting me by having people join me at the school on Monday. Simply amazing.

I darted out of the hotel around noon time I think. I ran to the east end of town and was met by the 333 road. My mom happened to call right as I hit the mark. She asked if I was hungry and sure enough my stomach said yes. The only problem was that she was at the hotel and she still needed to get gas. I was lucky to avoid wind today. I don’t know if it’s because of the city or because mother nature wanted to give me a break. Either way it was a blessing. The only drawback to the wonderful weather was that I had run about sixteen miles in a jacket which meant my shirt was soaked. I found myself shivering while waiting for my mom to arrive to have lunch with me. I ended up having a bit too much food and definetly too much water. When I began running again, I felt weighed down and heavy. Why did I do this to myself?

After a couple miles I felt better and by the time I reached Zuzax road the stomach had settled. My mom didn’t want to drive too far out of town so I agreed to head back to the hotel. To my surprise, the special guest services had sent protein drinks, muscle rub, and fresh fruit to my room. I downed a protein drink and headed out to look at their downtown area. In fact, I’m in a cafe now. The only problem is that I forgot my camera. So, I’ll have to put the pictures up a little later.
