Day 123 Chicago 0 miles. Rain

6/15/2011

I get so bummed out when the rain puts a damper on my day. My first look out the window today I saw nothing but white. It looked like I was in the clouds. Chicago is supposed to be the windy city not the rainy city. Perhaps it’s the universe’s way of telling me to take it easy. I constantly think about how one of the messages in “The Tenth Floor” is about not overworking oneself. I wonder why the author of that book has such a hard time following his own advice.

I ended up sleeping some more. My body sure did thank me for the extra rest. Between the running, and the events with the kids, I think I’ve been wearing myself thin.

Later in the day I met a couple of JC’s friends. One of them, Mike, happens to be an artist. Perhaps the rain happened so that I would cross paths with him. I sent him a picture and asked him to sketch me some ideas. Let’s see what he comes up with.

The rain had stopped so we decided to go out to Pizzaria Due. I was itching to try a place that served that famous Chicago deep dish pizza. We waited for a very long time. The wait ended up keeping me out longer than I would have liked. I wonder if that means I’ll get a late start tomorrow. I guess, part of this journey is experiencing the specialties throughout America.
