Day 130 Warsaw to Columbia, Indiana 20 miles

6/22/2011

It was an easy day. Except, I had to take shelter from a downpour under a tree. The leaves provided pretty good protection for the first ten minutes. The last five minutes though, the water penetrated the branches and leaves. Again my shoes were soaked. Not good for the tiny blisters. I was lucky the rains passed pretty quickly. I’m also lucky I had all my stuff in large trash bags. The things are great for protecting gear. (especially my electronics!)

Did I mention the tree was on top of a slope and that the rains made the slope muddy? Yes, I had to slide down the hill to get back on the road. At least the sun broke through and started drying everything. And, I was fortunate the area I took shelter didn’t have mosquitoes. All in all I couldn’t complain. I popped my headphones into my ear, cranked my music, enjoyed a treat left for me by the Schultz’s, and went on my way.

I had no lodging secured but I was lucky enough to find a cheap motel. I originally wanted to make Ft. Wayne my destination but thought it wiser not to aggrivate the blister. So I ended the day with plenty of time to relax. Which really means I have time to take care of all the other work that needs to be done when I’m not running. I love it though.
