Day 134 Lima to Ada 22 miles

.One of the most important components of performance is sleep. Without good sleep our bodies get angry and rebel. At times the consequences are injury. I didn’t quite allow my muscles to go through their usual repair cycle last night and my movement reflected that fact. Not fueling up properly didn’t help either. I guess it was a double whammy.

I grumbled as I slowly put one foot in front of another. Eventually I found a pizza place and gave myself a boost. I knew my destination but I wasn’t sure where I would be putting my head. There was no hotel in the town where I was headed. There was a campground five miles north though. The drawback there was that I’d have to backtrack following a thirty plus mileage day. That didn’t sound appealing to me so I did what I always do. I left my destiny to fate. I took many pictures and I let the universe guide my journey.

As nightfall approached, the batteries in my phone and my ipod were about to die. I looked at the vast fields ahead of me and thought, “I guess I’m gonna have to find somewhere to camp.” The good thing about this state is that everyone seems to keep perfect lawns with soft grass. I figured I’d push forward as much as the setting sun would allow. It’s a good thing I did too. I walked myself past Angie’s house. She had a tiny dog that seemed like he wanted to nip my heels. I had my Papa Didos shirt on, hip hop playing on my ipod, a slice of pizza in one hand, and the stroller handle in another. I didn’t even hear Angie ask me a question.

A bit later she passed me in her van and asked about my journey. You see, fate always lends a hand. We chatted in the street about my journey and my mission when out of the blue she told me her son in law Justin and her daughter Amber had hosted someone doing this journey before. Once again I feel as if destiny gave me a little push. It actually ended up being someone I had contacted before I began this run. It is the third time I have treaded on the path of others. I wonder who will tread on my path.

My favorite part of the evening was meeting Ty. He is the super cute fourteen month old son of Justin and Amber. You can tell he is a very caring and sensitive boy by his little actions. I gave him a book and he tried to give me his blanket and some Johnsons lavander nightime lotion to help me sleep. It’s like he read my mind. So, Justin and Amber offered me their guest room. It’s true. In the middle of miles of fields, I found a kind caring couple to put me up for the night. Angie lives pretty close to them and she told me she would take me to the Wilson football factory in the morning. Once again I am amazed at how everything works out. If I were reading this I wouldn’t believe how everyday something like this happens. Yet, I’m living it. I’m living the dream
