Day 183 Cocoa to Mims FL. – 22 Miles

3/5/2015

20150305_115215I navigated my way through construction cones for the first few miles of the day. Tractors roared while I inhaled dust and smog. But, I was fortunate to get through those miles quickly. The first destination of the day was the public library in Titusville. As I made my way to the destination, I passed advertisements for space centers, museums, and air shows. I reminisced on my youth and the fascination I had with model rockets. I must admit, I was tempted to go out and buy an Estes rocket set. I wondered if they were still in business and if kids these days found rocket launching as fun as in the past. Or were they more interested in flinging angry birds at targets.

20150305_121908I ran into the library and immediately searched for the water fountain. The cold hydration tasted like life. The wonderful liquid tickled my tongue and trickled down my throat. I guzzled generous amounts to satiate my parched mouth. I hardly realized the solar rays had taken so much liquid from my body. Crystal brought me my computer and I finished my work for the day.

20150305_153920Lunch was a simple affair. We had left over stir fry. The steam from the stove transformed the already hot trailer into a certified oven.

20150305_153931My mom and Crystal had the luxury of heading to the local YMCA to shower and cool off while I had the mission of continuing my journey. After seven more miles I found myself in Mims. The trailer pulled up right behind me at the same time. We saw an abandoned lot and figured we would stop for the day. The surprise came when the Cape Kennedy KOA Kampground called us up and told us they were donating a space for the evening. I would receive a healing rinse down too. When we reached the place, Cindy greeted us and got us settled in. The first thing I noticed were the magnificent trees. The sites were shaded and very roomy. Crystal had no problem backing our beast into our space. We also discovered a plethora of attractions in the nearby surrounding areas. Of course one of them was the Kennedy Space Center. Fortune had smiled on us again. 20150305_161257
