Day 207 Georgetown to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina – 29 Miles

IMG_2868Mary and Joe had risen bright and early for Sunday service. The aroma of fresh brewed coffee had drifted into our room and opened our eyes. I rolled around in the king sized bed for a moment. The pillows and bedding retained the warmth from my body and protected me from nature’s harsh elements. The entire house was cozy. It wasn’t until I carried a few items to the trailer that I understood just how sharp the cold air felt.

IMG_2854Mary had whipped up a nutritious meal to get me prepped for the day. Crystal and I sat in their breakfast area surrounded by books and tiny trinkets. Vast fields that stretched from our table to as far as the eye could see. The view of nature put me in a trance. But, as soon as we finished our breakfast, I snapped out of my relaxed state and got down to business.

IMG_2861The sun came out but the cold continued to chill my bones. My feet trampled the blades of dark green grass before my feet. Once my feet reached Pawleys Island, sidewalks appeared before my feet. Large homes in the area looked warm and inviting as the cold continued to bombard my skin. I had broken a sweat under my jacket and any momentary stop caused me to shiver. I looked forward to reaching the Hampton Inn in Myrtle Beach. Every step got me one step closer to a warm room.

20150329_150931Murrells Inlet was South Carolina’s Seafood capital. Restaurants lined the road and the smell of food lingered in the air. There was plenty to look at after that point. The shops became increasingly touristy. Suddenly miniature golf spots began to pop up. I couldn’t believe how many places there were. They started in Garden City and continued all the way to the hotel.

IMG_2891Before I got a chance to kick up my feet, Crystal told me the P.F. Chang’s in Myrtle Beach had agreed to donate our dinner. We were greeted by Melissa the GM. She had a big smile and made us feel very welcome. I was instantly put into a good mood. The food smelled great and I ordered a refreshing ginger beer to quench my thirst. The beverage was a great start to a wonderful meal. Crystal ordered dumplings which reminded me of our time in Asia. I had the tried and true veggie spring rolls to start my meal. I followed it with a tofu curry with quinoa. Katie our server brought everything out with cheer and she frequently checked on us. Not wanting to take advantage of the generosity, Crystal and I shared a cheese cake for desert. We wouldn’t have guessed that a Chinese restaurant could make such a tasty desert. Before leaving we were presented with a Chinese lucky cat. I was grateful for the token because we needed all the luck we could get.

IMG_2884We returned to the hotel happy and satiated. We were not prepared for the room we stepped into. The thing was huge like a home. The wing that faced the ocean had a living room, couch, dining area, and full kitchen. The other end held the king sized bed with a large tub and extra shower. Oh Myrtle Beach, you treated us so good.20150329_202422
