I should be asleep

I’ve been trying to get myself to bed at 8PM everyday but I haven’t been very successful. I’ve just had so much to take care of everyday in preparation for this journey.Today is no different. I spent a couple hours in front of a camera then another couple hours preparing the support vehicle. I’m exhausted.

Tomorrow I finally start. I’ve been waiting so long. As I sit here trying to quickly put down my thoughts, I think about all the people who have rallied to make things happen. I sure am grateful to have my friend Nick on my team. I’m not sure he knows how much I appreciate everything he has put into this organization. He has really come through with flying colors. Hello Ocean Knoll Elementary

I sure am blessed. It’s like everything is finally coming together. First I want to announce that I have officially chosen to run across the United States in New Balance Shoes. I just wanted to make sure my feet had the best possible gear I could find. Who wouldn’t want the best for a three thousand mile run?

They say you can’t fail if you put everything you’ve got into something. The kids at Ocean Knoll Elementary seem to understand this. Mrs. Voaklander teacher of the year eusd’s third grade class is filled with wonder and positive energy. And, the kids are amazing readers. I found several authors and artists in the group as well. How rewarding is it for me to recieve their gifts and wishes of luck? I will share some of their artwork with my readers now.

Taking care of the body starts with what you put in your mouth

We live in a very fast paced society and it’s only getting faster. It seems to me that all this rushing around does not lead to more time or happiness. Think about it. We no longer have home cooked meals around a table with family. Instead we swallow fast processed food because it is easy. Of course I am guilty of doing the same but I will tell you that I feel a hundred times better when I sit down, eat fresh veggies, and consume a slowly prepared meal.

Because my body metabolizes my food so quicky I feel all the effects instantly. I will have some junk food if I need an instant boost of energy while on a long run. I don’t like to do it if I’m not engaged in physical activity. It makes me lazy and it affects my state of mind as well...
