Consistent hard work yields big results. Each drop of water contributes to the ocean. Each grain of sand contributes to a mountain. I am infinitely further at this moment than I was a year ago. At least that is what I’m told. Honestly a year ago seems so far away. Perhaps each day moves so rapidly because each one is treated with a sense of urgency and purpose. It leaves me with hardly any time to contemplate the journey to date.

Some people see problems. I chose to see solutions. I might not always have the answer but I will search and probe and struggle until I discover it.

Quick fixes are usually just that: a quick fix. If we do not exercise patience on our journey towards understanding, we risk overlooking important details. It’s often been said that my generation is about instant gratification. We don’t ponder consequences. These actions have carried us to this moment in time. We are a product of our actions. Our actions are products of our thoughts. Our future is directly linked to our past. Everything is connected.

It’s Thanksgiving. It’s morning time. It’s completely silent. I’m sitting here with my thoughts and I’m reviewing the events of the past year.

It’s Thanksgiving. It’s morning time. It’s completely silent. I’m sitting here with my thoughts and I’m reviewing the events of the past year. It’s like a montage in a movie. Short clips just flash by; then poof! They are are gone. Today is a day to remember all the reasons we have to be thankful. While we sleep in and prepare large meals, others are cold and hungry. If you have the ability to do something, a small gesture is always appreciated. A small act of kindness can mean a lot to someone in need. Tomorrow people will begin shopping for Chirstmas gifts. It will be a frenzy of activity. But the cold and hungry will still be there.

Even today, I am thinking about how we can solve the problems we are facing. Mostly I find it all comes back to literacy...
